One of the most popular choices available (and the one we use ourselves) is Ethoxydiglycol or Diethylene Glycol Monoethyl Ether (DEGEE) this reed base offers great fragrance throw and is designed to wick effectively without clogging. However, you may encounter some issues with separation with some fragrances depending on fragrance composition.
Certain ingredients in fragrance oils, like heavy musk notes, deep woody accords, or vanilla compounds, are not fully soluble in high-alcohol formulations, leading to cloudiness or separation.
How to Fix or Prevent Separation
✅ Test Small Batches – Before making a full batch, test your fragrance oil at different concentrations (e.g., 10-20% fragrance to 80-90% base) to see if it stays mixed.
✅ Use a Co-Solvent – If separation occurs, try using Isopropyl Myristate (IPM), or Ethanol to help emulsify the fragrance.
