Bergamot Essential Oil

Grown in Calabria, Italy; Bergamot essential oil is named after the Italian city of Bergamo in Lombardy. Bergamot has been used in medicine for many years.

Bergamot has uplifting qualities that are useful for treating listlessness, depression, anxiety and nervousness. It has great antiseptic qualities and is particularly effective with oily skin.

Effect on mind: Uplifting qualities are very useful for treating listlessness, depression, anxiety and nervousness. Encourages restful sleep. Helps instill confidence.

Effect on body: Valuable intestinal antiseptic. Can relieve conditions such as painful indigestion, flatulence, colic and loss of appetite. Helpful with infections of the respiratory system. Often effective on cold sores and chicken pox. Ideal insect repellent.

Effect on skin: Its antiseptic qualities are excellent, but it is particularly effective with oily skin, especially if due to stress. Healing properties are enhanced for treating skin sores when blended with eucalyptus. Helpful with eczema, psoriasis, acne, scabies, wounds, herpes and skin disorders of the scalp.

Do not apply undiluted essential oils to your skin. Use a carrier oil or solvent to dilute first.

Eyes

Do not drip undiluted essential oils into eyes as this will cause a chemical burn and may result in temporary blindness. Diluted essential oils may be used close to the eyes. More here.

Ears

Undiluted essential oils should not be dripped into the ears, but diluted essential oils may be placed on a cotton wad for partial insertion.

Children

Keep essential oils in a place where young children cannot reach them, and never let them handle essential oils bottles.
